Albino Armani for technology research: the experiment of grafting Traminer on secular Enantio rootstocks has turned out to be a success, while Casetta vines continue to develop according to program.

Anticipating that which already today enjoys a growing demand on the market, Albino Armani’s experiment of grafting aromatic Traminer on secular Enantio rootstocks has been a success. Technically speaking, this is a rather innovative endeavor, whereby cleft grafting is applied to lateral branches of old pergola vines, employing a team of expert grafters from the region of Friuli. From very old plants one can expect there to be a contribution of noble components which are transmitted to the new wine. Over 90% of the grafts have been successful: in a few years a new type of aromatic Traminer will be making its debut.

This spring, on a new plot of land measuring about 2000 square meters, we bedded out 67 biotypes of Casetta (Foja tonda). They had been selected from old vineyards situated in five different places in the Valdadige, and particularly in the valley of Rovereto. In our project we are assisted by researchers from the E.Mac foundation, which is part of the San Michele all'Adige agrarian institute, and they will be monitoring this singular viticultural heritage, which is unique in the world. Now practically all the selected Casetta biotypes can be found among the Albino Armani vineyards.

annata eccezionale per il Traminer aromatico in Friuli

Excellent year: a perfect climate for red grapes in combination with optimal ripening; also excellent for the extremely rich aromas of white grapes. This year's harvest is very promising

Reds with a surprise, dreamy whites: What a promise for this year's wines! It is the especially prodigious way the weather progressed this year, with slow ripening of the grapes, boasting extremely healthy appearance, feel and flavor, that has created a perfect balance of organoleptic characteristics which are surely bound to result in high-quality wines. This year we are harvesting our red grapes later than usual to let them ripen more. They are rich in sugars and polyphenols, and have a lively color, which is perfect for making well-structured velvety reds. Our white grapes profited greatly from intense temperature shifts, which at our Trento vineyards dropped as low as 10° Celsius several nights this past summer, giving the grapes the right type of acidity without losing alcoholic grade. There is promise of an amazing Pinot Grigio, whose alcohol fermentation process is almost finished. The Chardonnay will be characterized by full-bodied aromas of special quality. This exceptional year will not disappoint the most demanding white wine experts, who will be loving the long-lasting, pungent and rich flavors. As we wait for the final results of this year's harvest, which is almost over, there will be lots of news to tell in the coming months

These certificates vouch for total safety for the world's consumers, in terms of traceability and health of both whites and reds composing the various product lines of Albino Armani. It has been by means of chemical, physical and sensorial control that our company has satisfied all the 270 necessary requirements, to obtain the IFS (International Food Standard) certificate in June 2009. The effort made by the Albino Armani group continues to be characterized by one's desire, and today one's awareness, of always going beyond to reach the best, but still maintaining one's ancient passion - the passion which has led us to where we are today
